Beth is a true Minnesotan with family roots in St. Louis Park where she graduated from St. Louis Park High School.  Her family spent most weekends in a rural MN community with extended family.  She was raised with great examples of serving people in need.

She achieved a B.A. degree in Social Work at Bethel University and entered the job market during a recession.  Since jobs were scarce, she did temporary work and struggled to pay school loans.  During this time, she learned of an English teaching job in Japan, where she ended up expanding her life experiences for 3 years.

Upon returning from Japan, she attended William Cary International University in Pasadena, CA, where she met her husband, John.  They moved to San Jose, CA where Beth completed her Elementary Education B.A. degree at San Jose State University.  She then founded Pioneer Family Academy,  an enrichment school in Social Studies and Science, for home-schooled children.

Several years after their sons were born, Beth and John moved back to Minnesota to be closer to her family. Minnesota became a great place to raise their growing sons, who are now flourishing adults.

Beth and John have enjoyed living in Bloomington for 22 years.  They are a welcoming family and have had 8 people, at different times, live with them during housing/employment transitions.

Beth has been active in Bloomington as a school volunteer, PTA member, neighborhood block captain, head election judge, a member of a neighborhood task force on the Normandale Community College parking ramp expansion, and a co-founder of “Connections” an organization to help disadvantaged families in Bloomington.

Her background in Education and volunteer work in Bloomington moved Beth to run for (and WIN!) a seat on the Bloomington School Board, where she has continued to serve for the past four and a half years.  She is dedicated to community engagement and to listening to the concerns of families and residents. Her passion for people is evident in the many lives she has touched.

Beth’s extensive background makes her a great candidate to represent West Bloomington, as State Representative in the Minnesota House.  She is a proven leader, community partner, and thoughtful decision-maker.
